Elan 494 Impression Croatia
Rob Humphreys has drawn a new, exciting blue water cruisers for Elan Yachts. The Impression 494 is already in spring 2012 Design.
With a whole range of details the concept of Impression 494 demonstrates a high degree of innovation. The dual rudder blades are designed to provide good sailing performance, and the cockpit is designed with specially shaped pedestals for winches for active, sporty sailing. Even sailors who are traveling alone or in pairs often are, to cope with the deck layout.
The focus of the concept to cover a maximum space available in the cockpit. The thwarts are long and shaped together with the bridge deck before the decline as a great U. So sitting several persons in the port comfortably around the large cockpit table. The mighty swim platform at the stern is foldable and collapsible, including there is a huge storage space for the dinghy. This can be particularly spacious, because here centrally bothers no shank because of the double rudder.
A high aluminum mast with three spreaders can carry a comparatively large sail area and should therefore ensure a high potential under sail. In sails, the customer has the choice between a short Genoa with 107 percent overlap or the option of a self-tacking. The roll system can be installed above or below deck. The mainsail is trimmed with a German-Cupper-mainsheet.

Elan 494 Impression interior decor
Even the interior construction of Elan's experimental. The galley is positioned here, unusually, before the elevated living area, and there is a considerable degree of extension options of two to five cabins and up to three bathrooms. At the request of sail storage in the bow can be removed as a skipper's cabin.
The body of the Impression 494 is (Vail technology) manufactured by Elan in the vacuum infusion process, the outer layers are processed by osmosis resistant vinyl ester resins. The deck is laminated as a sandwich construction with balsa wood core. The keel is made of cast iron and extends the standard to 2.25 meters in depth.
